Message to the Public and Media

I got several questions relating with the Eid Al-Adha festival in Myanmar. So I would like to explain as follows;

The Union government headed by the President, made an announcement to the public through several state media including so many televation channels and radio channels.

That announcement described " the Republic of the Union of Myanmar government announced that as 12th Waxing of Thadingyut, 1374 ME (Saturday, 27th October, 2012) is Bakri Eid Day, the Government Offices will be closed on that day under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act."

Moreover, the section 34 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar officially states that every citizen is equally entitled to freedom of conscience and the right to freely profess and practise religion subject to public order, morality or health and to the other provisions of this Constitution.

His Excellency the President did not and will not give instructions or orders or pressure to do any restriction about the celebrating the Islamic festival of Eid Al-Adha in Myanmar.
